Free Generator Installation Quote

A generator installation quote starts with a short form: your town, your home, and what you want running when the power goes out. A local installer follows up to set up a site visit.

What to put in your generator quote request

The more you tell us, the more useful the first call is:

  • Your town and the property type: home, business, or farm or camp
  • What you need: a new standby generator, a transfer switch, maintenance or repair
  • Fuel: natural gas, propane, or not sure
  • Home size and what you want powered, whole house or just essentials
  • A preferred date, if you have one

Use the notes for anything that changes sizing: a well pump, sump pump, central air, an older panel, or a gas meter on the far side of the house. Not sure how big to go? Read what size generator you need first.

After your generator installation quote request

A local installer calls to set up a site visit. They look at your panel, gas meter and placement options, run a load calculation to size the generator, and send a written quote covering the unit, transfer switch, gas line, pad, permit and inspection. Our generator cost guide explains what moves the number. Outside the Capital District core? Check the towns we cover.

Generator installation quote FAQs

Still deciding? Call and ask, or send the form and the installer answers on the site visit.

Call (518) 655-3802

Is a generator installation quote free?

Yes. Sending the form costs nothing and doesn't commit you to anything. You decide after you see the written quote.

Do I need a site visit for a standby generator quote?

For a standby generator, yes. The installer has to see your electric panel, gas meter or propane setup, and where the unit can sit with proper clearances before pricing the job.

What affects the price in a generator installation quote?

Generator size, natural gas or propane (and whether you need a new tank), the transfer switch type, the distance from the gas meter and the panel, the pad, permits and inspection, and any electrical or gas meter upgrades. Our generator cost guide explains each one.
